With the temperature dropping, there's never been a better excuse to update your coat collection. Winter coats are a staple in any wardrobe. They not only keep us nice and warm from the chilly weather, but also they make a fashion statement too. There is an array of styles available to suit everyone's tastes and needs. The following are 6 of my favourite ones.
THE TRENCH COAT
Originally designed for the British Army, the trench coat has evolved into one of the most fashionable coats. A classic and a must have in any wardrobe. Khaki is the classic colour, however now it comes in a variety of colours from red to green, and different textures from patterned to velvet.
THE MAXI COAT
The full length maxi coats are perfect for the winter. They look amazing with trousers, but also they are really nice with skirts (and very warm too).
THE 3/4 LENGTH COAT
It is also called knee length coat. This type of coat is very flattering to any figure. A must have for any wardrobe and very versatile too, as it can be worn both day and night. From black, to camel and white, the options are endless.
THE MILITARY COAT
BELSTAFF ABBERLEY | BURBERRY | BURBERRY
The military coat is usually double breasted and long and it's perfect to keep you looking stylish when it's cold outside.
THE PONCHO
The poncho hungs over the shoulders like a chic blanket making you feel cozy and warm! It is perfect for the autumn months when it's not that cold.
THE PEA COAT
Military-inspired, the Pea Coat is a warm wool coat that is perfect to wear from the autumn months into winter. It typically hits below the hip and is double-breasted. Various colours, patterns and other decorations (like hoods, belts or buttons) can enhance this classic design.
Having a trench coat and a knee length coat already, I think that I'm going to invest in a pea coat or a military coat this year. That is when the weather starts to feel like winter, cause it's November and we're still wearing short sleeves here in Cyprus (not that I'm complaining!).

What is your favourite type of coat to wear?
