Get Perfect Kissable Lips :: Homemade Lip Scrub

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Chapped lips are very common during the winter months. The cold and the wind outside as well as the dry air and the low humidity indoors can dehydrate your lips. They become very fragile and they develop tiny splits and cracks. But we can make this winter different! As I mentioned in my post regarding the ways to protect your skin during the winter, it's very important to both exfoliate and keep your lips moisturised. You can buy some very good lip scrubs, like the Sara Happ Brown sugar lip scrub, but today I thought I'll save myself the £20 and instead I'll make my own homemade sugar lip scrub, with ingredients I've already got in my pantry.

This must be one of the easiest recipes ever! It only has 2 ingredients: coconut oil and brown sugar. That's it! You're also going to need a small jar or container to store your lip scrub, and a plate and a spoon to mix it in. I used a ratio of 2:1 of sugar to oil. Mix the ingredients in a plate and then just add the mixture in the jar. It only takes 2 minutes to make!

You can then decorate the jar or container with a sticker or a label, and there you have it - your own homemade sugar lip scrub! These can also make excellent presents for friends and family. Make sure to tell them to store them in the fridge between uses.

Of course you can add more ingredients to flavour your scrub, like honey or vanilla essence or cinammon etc. I just chose to make the simple version ;) Both ingredients used in this lip scrub are good for you: the coconut oil is full with antioxidants and is an amazing moisturiser, while the brown sugar is a natural exfoliant.

A very inexpensive and very easy sugar lip scrub, that is good enough to eat, and which will give you the perfect kissable lips this winter! Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments below ;)
